As currently working in an Automation Department , there are various opportunities where we get the chance to know more about and RPA tool . As we know the trend of unattended automation is increasing day by day, the competition of RPA automation have also increased with various brand with different features and facalities along with the cost pricing. The automation bot basically used for unattended human intervention within a process
  • helps in creating automated process at business scale
  • good feature where bots can act on AI insights
  • good feature available like OCR activities and AI intelligent chatbot
  • Low code with multiple bot execution in concurrency
  • looking at the RPA market competitor UIPath , the IBM licensing is twice in Cost as compared to UiPath but offers better value.
  • process stability along with the flexibility in 3rd party integration apps.
  • unclear guidelines in the documentations and slow initialization or implementation
On comparing the market scenario, the Basic perspective is based upon the Usage and Cost of the tool. The IBM RPA provides the flexible and cost effectiveness licensing along with the customer requirements but gets the impression of High Licensing cost on comparison with the other RPA tools like Uipath , Automation Anywhere , Blue Prism etc. 3rd party app integration is one more hectic side , but the plus point is the AI insights to complete process

We use IBM RPA mainly to automate and stadardize our workflows on the supply chain, inventory, logistics, and warehousing sides. Before we started using it, we didn't have a system to manage these areas in a standardized way, wherea now, all of our intake, data entry, dispatch, etc., processes are more streamlined and error-free.
  • Creating and maintaining reports based on continuous data entry
  • Setting standardization tasks for our production data entry tasks
  • Maintaining standard worklfows for new inventory intake and output
  • It's very expensive, especially for growing operations like ours.
  • It's a bit difficult to set up and start using confidently.
I think IBM RPA is very suitable if your supply chain workflows have lots of repetitive or time consuming tasks, or tasks that have a lot of room for human error. Reducing these was the main motivation for our purchasing decision. For where it doesn't fit in well, I'm not sure if it fits in well with data from production machines, especially machines like ours that have a wider range of variation.

We are using this product for Supplier's bill passing and costing master data updation in SAP.

Supplier send the file with attached on specified email.

IBM Robotic Process Automation reads the supplier attached file from email with OCR and take out supplier code, PO number, and matches with SAP master data.

Based on above matching system pass the invoice in case of there is a mismatch then admin receive the exception email
  • Suppliers send the email with attached invoice on special email ID created for this purpose only
  • IBM Robotic Process Automation reads the email attachment with OCR capability and convert that data into our required template
  • if above data e.g. vendor code, PO number, material code, quantity calculation matches with our specified rules, IBM Robotic Process Automation does the SAP bill passing (MIRO)
  • if there is a mismatch then admin receive the exception email with vendor,PO number etc
  • Speed of invoice reading through OCR can be improved
  • More machine learning can be used in case of exceptional cases
  • Cost factor can be improved
I think IBM Robotic Process Automation is more suited in case there is a huge data and work is of same nature. IBM Robotic Process Automation takes care of mistakes and avoid human error. IBM Robotic Process Automation can be more effective if the format of attachment is uniform across all suppliers etc.

if data is less and format are not standardized, IBM Robotic Process Automation faces cost / OCR reading issues.

I worked as systems engineer where digital product management systems needed to be organized and optimized. Considering that we have had thousands of alternative journeys, having IBM Robotic Process Automation at out disposal helped us incredibly to reduce the manhour needed and provide results which are less prone to human errors.
  • Journey Repetition
  • Journey Design
  • Bottleneck Detection
  • More Flexibity
  • More Integrations
  • More File Types Compatibility
It's very common especially in corporates to confuse Robotic Process Automation via Artificial Intelligence even with Machine Learning that's why some of the use-cases we have had required AI or ML or both of them and RPA's additional value there would be really minimal, given the internal dynamics we set everyone's expectations better after a while.

Several times we suffered from the automation of pending/important activities due to human errors when delegating certain undue processes. However, using this IBM Robotic Process Automation tool, we can configure robots to do all the repetitive and critical processes, now much more reliable and without the errors. The device is very easy and intuitive in terms of development. In addition, it has very complete documentation that facilitated the implementation.
  • Processes of great importance to avoid human error, in addition to these properties, this is a high quality product that we like very much
  • I like how IBM Robotic Process Automation is also assisting us with different use-cases automation to help us implement the solution for our clients without worrying about the industry or the department
  • With on-premise solutions, companies can have difficulty scaling up
  • I believe it is a bit sophisticated and expensive, making it difficult to implement into smaller businesses
Within an organization, this leads to a generic result as it can be used in areas of analysis such as technology or business. Programming robots allows them to create systems that continuously serve customers and take care of the various operations that may arise for professionals adapting to new digital demands

In our biotechnology organization, I use IBM Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to automate a range of manual and repetitive tasks that are specific to the biotechnology industry. This includes tasks such as data entry for clinical trial records, data verification for research results, and document processing for regulatory submissions. One of the main business problems that IBM RPA addresses for us is the need to maintain compliance with a range of regulatory requirements, including those related to data privacy and security. By automating our processes, we can ensure that sensitive data is handled and processed in accordance with these requirements, which helps to protect our organization and our clients. Another business problem that IBM RPA addresses for us is the need to improve the speed and accuracy of our processes. By automating repetitive and time-consuming tasks, I can significantly reduce the time and effort required to complete these tasks, which helps us to improve our overall productivity and efficiency. The scope of our use case for IBM RPA is focused on automating a range of administrative and operational tasks, including data entry, data verification, and document processing. This involves implementing RPA bots to handle these tasks, as well as integrating these bots with our existing systems and processes.
  • It can be effectively used to automate the entry of data from various sources, such as laboratory reports, patient records, and instrument readings. This makes it easier to store and analyze data, which is critical in the biotechnology field.
  • It can also be used to automate the analysis of data. This includes performing statistical analysis, data mining, and machine learning to identify patterns, trends, and insights in the data. This can be used to improve the accuracy of biotechnology research and development.
  • RPA can also be easily used for tasks such as cleaning and calibrating instruments, monitoring for errors, and troubleshooting. This can help to reduce downtime and ensure that equipment is functioning optimally.
  • It currently requires a lot of manual effort to integrate it with existing systems. This can be a time-consuming and costly process, and it would be beneficial to see improved integration capabilities built into the platform.
  • Additionally, RPA has a rather clunky user interface that can be difficult to use. It would be beneficial to see improved user experience features to make the platform more intuitive and user-friendly.
  • It has limited flexibility when it comes to dealing with unstructured data, such as text and images. It would be beneficial to see improved capabilities for dealing with these types of data.
It creates a more streamlined and efficient experience with the automation of data collection and analysis, the automation of laboratory protocols, and the automation of quality control measures. In these scenarios, robotic process automation can be used to reduce the amount of manual labor involved, increase the accuracy of data, and improve the efficiency and speed of production. Scenarios where IBM Robotic Process Automation may be less appropriate, include the automation of highly complex tasks or processes that require a high degree of human judgment, such as drug discovery and development, and the automation of processes that involve direct contact with human patients, such as medical diagnoses. Additionally, robotic process automation is not typically suited for tasks that require creative problem-solving or require a significant amount of data manipulation. However, the technology is highly capable of being developed to be more intelligent.

We are RPA Service providers and IBM businees partners. We recommend and use the IBM Robotic Process Automation platform to automate our clients' businesses. Not many MS Office options (like Pivot and Lookup) but provided macro/vbsccript support which is not suitable for non-programatic users. The new version(21.0) of documentation is much better. I love the coonectors of google drive, one drvie, dropbox provided by IBM RPA. The best feature is dashboard customization without paying extra. Easy way of triggering bots using Launcher(desktop application), Scehduler, Control Room API, Bot agent API(clinet system). IBM RPA was improved a lot recently and the future feature list seems very good.
  • Chat bot, machine learning model
  • REST APIs to call bots, Orchestration process
  • Multiple customizable dashboards
  • Subroutine option
  • Connectors to Google Drvie, One Drive, Dropbox, Exchange, gmail
  • Machine Learning Models
  • Traning paltform for Machine Learning Models
  • Documentation (v21.0 onwards)
  • easy installation of On-Prem version
  • Simple Control Center
  • simple PDF extraction and OCR
  • Legacy application automation (IBM Robotic Process Automation did not recognize MS Dynamics AX)
  • More options for Microsoft office application
  • Exception handling
  • Support for user interaction (like an option to wait for approval from human)
  • Folder lever authentication
  • support for uploading files to control center other than bots
  • support for custom screen scaling for window application automation
Well suited for business automation. Need some improvements in automating Windows applications. As the IBM RPA product evolving rapidly much recommended for repetitive, rule-based tasks. Not suitable for automating apllications thru RDP

The process of automating tasks has been hassle-free and a very smooth, hassle-free operation thanks to the IBM RPA. The simplicity and efficiency are highly contrasted compared to the typical RPA tools on the market. Most people within the organization who does not have complex IT knowledge have been able to use this without a big hassle and a little bit of guidance. We use the IBM RPA mainly to automate up-to-date work processes and, followingly, to deal with the manual processes implemented internally. The massive set of data we collect from the clientele is used via the IBM RPAs' programmed AI bots to perform specified tasks. The programmable AIs and designed tasks applicable to large organizations allow complex tasks to be handled perfectly. We have managed to bring down the margin of human errors that occurred by a significant number. The organization has been able to save up to 60% of the time.
  • Automate complex processes and design bots to perform specific tasks.
  • Minimize the human error significantly while processing data.
  • Machine learning capacity on it's own as the users do not have to feed data manually.
  • Random crashes in web automation process.
  • The user interface could be retouched as it looks a little outdated.
  • Cost of the software is significantly higher than other tools available.
Though the cost of the ARP is considerably higher than the other products, it is highly recommended to go for the IBM RPA as the functionality is unmatched. The tools and integrations available are not supported in most of the other similar tools. Users will have a much smoother process once they are equipped with basic training, and the learning curve gets better with the usage since most of the processes and reports are already in place. A large organization that deals with massive data will have the best outcomes and will be able to branch out multiple functions based on the processed data. Human intervention is much limited, and you can depend on accuracy of the output.

Currently, we are the IBM partner who implemented the first project for IBM RPA in the middle east & Africa. We work with telecom companies and banks to automate repetitive tasks that take a lot of time from employees and also help them in the reconciliation between different systems which takes a lot of their time.
  • The only RPA in the world that can run multiple bots on the same machine.
  • Very strong reporting tool.
  • Due to it is different development approach, it is faster than other RPA's.
  • Can solve Captcha & Recaptcha
  • Task discovery
  • Linux for client machine
  • Ability to run fully functional on a remote server
In case you want to reduce the cost of ownership, IBM [Robotic Process Automation (RPA)] is the best as it can run multiple bots on the same machine and this is a unique function where other vendors can't do it. If you need deep reporting about businesses that were executed the unique reporting tool is the best that can help you as it has dashboard and reporting tool with an embedded dashboard. The scenario where it is less appropriate is if you need to track different versions of the IBM RPA as it still needs improvement.

The organization uses the IBM RPA tool to build many functional robots with different characteristics, that are suitable to the sector of the client to whom it is shown. It is being used by a department. The department addresses many business problems. It depends on the client but in general, the ideas are raised and developed with all possible details, using powerful commands that the tool has to reach amazing robots.

  • IBM RPA provides almost all the features and commands to do our work faster and more efficiently, the speed and precision of completing a task are really excellent.
  • IBM RPA has the ability to integrate with other technologies through the efficient use of selectors.
  • The platform is very comfortable and easy to use, you do not need to have strong programming skills. It is just drag and drop actions to develop great automation ideas.
  • IBM RPA is a powerful tool for automating many daily tasks, it works well in both assisted and unattended automation processes.
  • The updates are faster.
  • IBM RPA could have commands to create and process charts.
  • IBM RPA could have more commands to process audios and videos, especially to detect the times when certain words appear.
  • The launcher could show the chatbots that are developed.
  • It could have more commands to process image details such as colors and pixels, among others.
  • Add OCR with greater precision, especially for image reading.
  • The interface to develop workflows could also improve.
IBM Robotic Process Automation is well suited to connect with other technologies and databases - handles the browser and Microsoft Office very well, reading text files, reading web and applications selectors, has many commands to execute rules, build a great chatbot, create and run regular expressions, among others. IBM Robotic Process Automation is less appropriate to proccess audios, images with low resolution and built charts and handle exceptions.

Hello, we used IBM-RPA to make a bot that automates the process of COVID-19 vaccine verification. The bot we used runs with a code written by JAVA as the backend database. It was quite a nice experience working with IBM-RPA. It would have been easy to understand the protocol if it had a user manual kind of thing. The one problem that we faced is that, once the program is executed, there will be few errors shown in the launcher due to some glitches at times. And it's really difficult to multi-program with 2 or more languages for the same bot. My organization is using IBM-RPA to do few other hands-on projects and to know RPA better.
  • Data entry and retrieval
  • Multi-application working platform
  • Multi-tasking
  • Error- handling
  • It would have been cool, if you can code in different languages for the same bot.
  • Scheduling and running few programs is difficult.
  • Accuracy and precision for a bulk data.
It is really good for bulkier database automation.
It can be widely used for application purposes for jobs and colleges.
It is well suited for a well-data-managed and equipped environment.
It is least suited for transactions that include complexity.
It is not preferred for programming a bot with multiple language protocols.

  • Out-of-box SMTP connectivity, email reader including attachment is also nice functionality that help to automate lot of support monitoring activities.
  • Out-of-box plugins for SQL server was also really nice and helped us to quickly configure our database connectivity.
  • I was challenged to implement IVR functionality with IBM RPA.
Well suitable to automate lot of organizational tasks that are repetitive in nature.

We're using IBM RPA across the whole organization. Our business concept is based on the software and we implement various automation solutions for our customers with it. Therefore, there is not a specific business problem our organization addresses. The biggest project is in the medical area within online prescription.
  • Machine Learning Integration
  • Scripting Function
  • Easy sharing of scripts
  • Training possibilities
  • Bugs because it is still quite new
IBM RPA is well suited in most automation scenarios. It has a high potential to become the best RPA software on the market, even better than current competitors. However, the training possibilities have to [be] improved drastically. Moreover, the developers should focus on fixing bugs which sometimes make the software hard to use.

We are [an] IT service provider. IBM RPA is part of IBM cloud Pak for Automation. We want to see its capability on RPA. We used it to implement the automation POC on Healthcare Patient registration & appointment process.
  • It is a low code tool. We just built our first bot within 2 weeks with learning from scratch.
  • It has chatbot, IVR, scheduling capability. RPA script can be called as a http call.
  • It can easily automate UI manual work and has [a] record option which automatically generates the required codes.
  • It can easily integrate with REST, SOAP service, DB, mail server.
  • Can read CSV, files and also easily write in files, CSV.
  • It has error handling capability, but I feel that can be improved.
  • Logging can be possible with file write. In build logging capabilities will be very helpful.
In any business flow automation where legacy system UI is present or need to introduce chatbot/IVR system in between the business flow it will be very helpful. We are currently working on healthcare domain and we can see there is lot of opportunity to use this tool there.

We are reviewing RPA for sales and technical enablement as an IBM Partner. We are a small organization, so the only implementation thus far has been the automation of management reporting. Our technical staff is in the process of reviewing other features to fully understand how our customers can use the software. At the moment, the problem it addresses for us is the daily, monotonous task of running and sending reports.
  • The user Interface is intuitive in comparison with other similar products. It doesn't take long to figure out how to add actions to a script and get running quickly with some basic robots.
  • The product appears mature with a large feature set. This is important to keep implementation costs low by offering features out-of-the-box without the need for custom components (email integration, special API usage, etc).
  • The recorder option for navigating web pages is very useful. It doesn't require programming ability and works well.
  • Error messages can be cryptic and there is a steep learning curve to debugging.
  • The installation process could have some steps that are automated such as the SQL database creation.
It is well suited to repetitive daily/weekly processes that are done by humans and take a long time. [IBM Robotic Process Automation (RPA)] can accomplish these tasks much faster than a person and with greater accuracy. Another scenario is a process that involves different applications without APIs or with APIs that have a difficult learning curve. RPA can interact without the use of APIs which can consequently reduce the cost of the solution.
